Lens arrays

A lens array is a collection of small lenses arranged in a regular pattern on a surface, typically in a square or hexagonal pattern. Each individual lens in the array focuses light to a specific point on the image plane or detector. Lens arrays can be used for a variety of purposes, including multi-channel imaging, light field imaging, and beam shaping in optical systems. They are commonly used in various applications such as 3D sensing, microscopy, and machine vision. Lens arrays can be made using a variety of materials, including glass, plastic, and silicon.

Mould inserts for lenses are typically produced by diamond machining, micro milling and polishing. Axxicon has proven to be succesful in this field, even for confocal structures on both sides of the product made with an injection compression mould. A roughness of 30nm Ra can be achieved with our micro milling and 2nm Ra by polishing.

For measurement of the mould insert and/or replica’s we either use our 3D confocal Laser Microscope, surface profiler or our CMM using a probe and freeform software. Want to know more about our Quality insurance?
