Today’s plastic materials can be pretty rough on injection moulds. Challenges to mold maintenance extend beyond glass-fillers to include wood fibers, metal powders, flame retardants, and other additives—not to mention the resins themselves. Aggressive conditions of outgassing and moisture acidity often accompany abrasive wear resulting in a shortened mould life.
Surface threatments as coating can be applied to make the mould more durable. Unfortunately, there is no universal coating that is appropriate for all applications.

Grains / textures
AIM™ mold inserts can be textured using several technologies: chemical etching, EDM, sand blasting or laser texturing.
Depending on the chosen technology different results can be obtained.
Texture manufacturers need a written permission to replicate OEM texture’s into tooling. They only will obtain the permission when quality is proven. It might be possible that OEM’s prescribe specific Texture manufacturers for their textures.
Axxicon will integrate the customer requirements into the tool requirements. Based on that, design rules must be met to comply with OEM’s design

A chain hole enables hanging of samples or to keep samples together with a chain.
Logo / Engravings
Engravings like Logo’s can be added on AIM mould inserts.
Notches are possible, however many standards advise to machine them after moulding.
